Sleeping beauty

Darkling dragged the litter deep into the trees. She must find a safe place to put her precious cargo. She soon came across what appeared to be a deserted cabin and hid the wolf lady among the bushes to investigate. The inside seemed inviting, and waiting. A home longing for its inhabitant. In the kitchen she spied something poking out of a cabinet. Opening the door she saw it was full of mates to the towel she had in her possesion. She let out a gleeful giggle as she returned to her charge. Once everyone was inside, she and Jiggles carefully lifted her onto the bed and tried to make her comfortable as possible. "Jiggles, make sure not to make the sleep impulses okay? I know it is up to her to wake up, but just to be sure she stays that way if she does." Jiggles jumped up into darkling's arms. Bowing her head, darkling focused her inner self for one more task. The wind began to howl like a choir of wolves outside. Her voice came thick with power,"Let no being that intends harm enter here."

The barrier in place, the wind began to settle

Darkling had the feeling of eyes upon her. "If you mean no harm to her, the barrier will let you through. You merely face the judgement of your own soul upon itself." She announced loudly to the still room. Jiggles let out an authoratative, "DOOP!" Darkling looked around and as always saw a new task at hand. She wandered into the kitchen and began to gather all the things she needed. Such an orderly and well stocked space made for quick work as she began to make up a wonderful batch of soup. With the soup on to cook, she turned to Jiggles. "What do you say we tidy up? You can be in charge of any repairs needed" Her friend wiggled his delight as she picked up a broom and took a clean towel from the cabinet.

They had the cabin in great shape.

Taking a step back, they eyeballed thier work. "Great job little friend" darkling spoke softly as she reached down to pet Jiggles. She had dampened the fire under the soup down to embers to keep it warm and the smell drifted through out the place. The sound of a distant explosion broke the peace of the quiet cabin, followed in short order by a horrible grinding roar. Darkling felt unease within her. An old familiar trepidation that shook her to her very core. Something was extremely wrong out there. She knew what she had to do before it even registered in her mind. "Jiggles, you stay here and keep watch. Protect our sleeping one and yourself as well. The barrier will hold, but do not set one wiggly foot out of it for anything. I have a good idea what I'm going to find. I dont want to see you devoured by those things." Jiggles looked up with understanding and longing in his eyes. Darkling steadied herself and walked out the door.
